2014 Fall Foliage Tour

Tim the Tour Man put together another fun-filled day for this year’s Fall Foliage Tour.  Photos taken by Ken & Jennie Barker, Bill & Marian Cattrell, Dwight & Mary Hutton, Tim Baker and Toni Glover.

The day started with breakfast at the Central Diner and Grill.   It was a gray, damp morning, but the sun came out and it turned into a very nice fall day.  Twenty two cars set out, and other members joined in along the way.

Our first stop was at Historic Fort Steuben, where we were broken into smaller groups with tour guides who explained the fort’s history.

Lunch was a brown bag affair in the museum’s conference room.

Our next stop was the former West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville, where our guide gave us a chilling account of what it was like during the years the prison was in operation.

Our final stop was at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, West Virginia.

An impromptu dinner at Quaker Steak & Lube followed, as some of us just weren’t ready to say goodbye yet.  Thanks for the great last-minute idea, Dwight & Mary!IMG_0283

Tim, you certainly did live up to your “Tim the Tourman” title. It was really a nice outing. We especially enjoyed the tour of the jail. Thank you.

Thanks for all your hard work, Tim! It was wonderful to see a good turnout for this tour.
