2017 GPMC Fall Foliage Tour

October 8, 2017

From Activities Director, Tim Baker:  Due to a scheduling issue, the Fall Foliage Tour has been changed to Sunday, October 8, 2017.  This year’s tour will depart from the Cranberry Township area, hopefully North Park Lounge, and head north through Butler, Beaver, Lawrence, and Mercer Counties before making our first stop of the day at Kraynak’s in Hermitage.  Kraynak’s has a large display of themed Christmas tree displays as well as extensive shopping areas for toys, puzzles, games, figurines, and model trains.

After our stop at Kraynak’s, we will head further north into Crawford County to Conneaut Lake to take a lunch ride on the Barbara J sternwheeler.  As we tour the lake on the boat, we will enjoy a catered lunch burger bar from the nearby Mariner Steak and Seafood House.  Following the boat ride, we’ll split into two groups to drive in opposite directions around Conneaut Lake before heading to the Pymantuning Reservoir, which is close by.  Don’t forget to bring some stale bread to throw to the carp and ducks!

After that stop, we’ll wind our way back through Crawford and Mercer Counties, ending at the popular Wendell August Forge near Grove City.  Ending here will give everyone plenty of dining and shopping options for the rest of the day.  The cost for the boat tour and the burger bar will total $20 per person.

What:                    2017 Fall Foliage Tour
When:                  Sunday, October 8, 2017, departing at 9am
Where:                 North Park Lounge, Cranberry Township, PA
How much:         $20 per person, includes boat tour of Lake Conneaut and lunch burger bar

The cruise around Lake Conneaut will include a catered lunch of a burger bar, with burgers, condiments, macaroni salad, and drinks of flavored water and iced tea.  If you’d like a different beverage, you are welcome to bring your own, although alcoholic beverages are prohibited on board the boat.

As of September 18, 68 people have signed up for the Fall Foliage Tour and scenic cruise!  The boat’s capacity is 70 passengers, so once that number is reached, I will begin a waiting list.  Members are still encouraged to come along on the Fall Foliage Tour even if the boat is full; I will be looking for an activity for anyone ‘left behind’ when the boat shoves off.  Additionally, if you’d prefer to stay ashore instead of taking the boat ride, please let me know and I will accommodate your wishes.

The total cost for the Fall Foliage Tour activities are $20 per person ($10 for the boat fare and $10 for the lunch catering).  If you’ve signed up, please send a check, made payable to GPMC, to me.  Questions?  Email activities@gpmc.org.
