Here’s the dessert recipe, as made for the picnic. My mom always called it Luscious Dessert, and this is my variation on it. The pudding filling flavor can be varied according to personal tastes.

Crust: 2 cups of flour and 2 sticks of softened butter. Mix with hands then pat into the bottom of a cake pan. Bake at 325 degrees for about 12 minutes or until the edges of the crust start to turn brown. Cool thoroughly then chill in refrigerator or it will come apart when adding the next layer.

Layer 1: 1 cup of powdered sugar; one 8 ounce package of Philadelphia Cream Cheese; and 1 8 ounce tub of Cool Whip. Incorporate the powdered sugar into the cream cheese with a spatula, then fold in the whipped topping. Smooth over top of crust and chill in refrigerator to set.

Layer 2: Slice bananas and spread across the top of the cream cheese/whipped topping layer. Press slices lightly into the mixture to set it, then add layer 3.

Layer 3: 2 packages of Jell-O Instant Chocolate Pudding and 2 3/4 cups of milk. Mix according to “Pie Filling” directions on the pudding package, then spread over the banana layer. Chill before proceeding.

Layer 4: Slightly whip then spread another 8 ounce tub of Cool Whip over the top of the pudding layer. Top with nuts if desired.

Hi Brian & Karen! Yes, it was a perfect day. The dessert is one that Tim is known for, and a request has been sent out to him to see if he would be willing to share it. Thanks for being there and adding to the fun of the day.
