November 2021: Fred and Melissa Mazur’s award winning 1963, factory supercharged, Studebaker Avanti, R-2, earned a Gold Certification Award by scoring 988 out of 1000 points at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago this past November. To achieve this award, the car must be over 95% correct/ authentic/as judged by experts of the brand. The car also earned the Platinum Judges Choice Award as the best Studebaker there. The Chicago, MCACN show is often referred to as “The Pebble Beach of Muscle Cars”, with over 600 cars, there by invitation.
Fred and Melissa’s car sat next to the Avanti, driven by Andy Granatelli at Bonneville Salt Flats in 1962 that broke 29 Land Speed Records. This was the same car that appeared in the Champion Spark ads of the day. Fred is pictured with Wayne Carini from the TV show, “Chasing Classic Cars”, and Scott Houck, announcer/commentator from the Mecum Car Auctions.

September 10, 2017, from Charlyn Mulkey: After her Florida trip was cancelled because of Hurricane Irma, Lisa Fricke entered the Northeastern Ohio Mustang Club big show in Akron, Ohio. She won 2nd place which was judged by MCA rules.

Today in Huntington, WVa., Dwight’s and Mary’s 1990 McLaren earned its’ “Original” award badge in the “Historical Preservation of Original Features” class with the Antique Automobile Club of America. The car (and Dwight) gathered a lot of attention at this National Spring Meet. The car was evaluated by a team of expert judges and was found to be correct and all original (unrestored).
